Sunscreen – What Is It And Why Do We Need It?
Let me explain, sunscreen skincare products are products that contain ingredients to protect the skin from the sun’s radiation. This includes something called UVB the rays that cause burning and UVA the rays that cause skin aging. They also help prevent any skin damage that can lead to skin cancer.
Is highly recommended that the sunscreen should be put on all exposed skin. Including face, neck, ears and the head, let’s not forget that. Especially if you have thinning hair or rock the Grant Mitchell … get outta my PUB ! ha ha.
Your skin type and family history will determine the level of protection that’s best for you. Whatever your skin type please be mindful that certain medicines can make us more sensitive to the sun. Choose sunscreens for different skin conditions, dry skin, oily skin, acne prone skin and sensitive skin.
Dangers Of The Sun
Today we know so much more about the dangers that we must arm ourselves with protection …. hats, caps, head scarfs, UV blocking shades. Seek the shade whenever possible, use all these measures and make sure the younger generations are aware of the sun and its dangers. Get the kids on board, they love spouting the rules and recommendations.
Let’s keep everyone safe. I remember being on holiday in Portugal, my first real try at getting a tan and only fifteen years old. Just a short break away with Mr and Mrs Carver. On the last day of the holibob, dad bumped into a man that he knew from playing Rugby, who also went to school with my mum. His wife thought I looked a little pink across my nose and put some oil across it. Well, I had the biggest blister across my face, and was very lucky not to have any lasting damage.
Do you think that you would tell somebody that they needed to be careful?
Definitely, I would tell anyone in my party but not sure its correct to go around telling everyone about sun damage. However, I do think that the TV is a great platform where now everyone’s booking holidays. Perhaps every holiday destination could be setting the seed about sun damage. This is why at the ripe age of blah de blah I’ve never been to Greece. As holiday making in the school summer holidays and being the proud mum of three blonde bombshells it never happened.
